Rejuvenating Weekends -- by Joy

Sound... Music... Pleasure... Relax... Calm...

A routine on weekend mornings: wake up late, sipping late morning tea... with music and songs playing in the background, and eyes on the computer screen, a wonderful day away from the hustle and bustle city lives and jostling crowds. Most importantly, my beloved one is at my side.

This is an essential routine because it's the time where we enjoy most with minds and bodies relax to the slow pace of our lives in our cozy little cocoon. Enjoying every moment. We exchange views on the music and songs play, or give comments on the articles read on the web, or just close our eyes gently and resting our bodies on the comfortable rocking chairs.

With the windows ajar, the clear blue sky shrouded by the opposite box-like lego homes can be glimpsed through our sliding windows. Floating clouds fleeting across above, my less-than usual thoughts linger along with it. Occasionally, my mind would return to the computer screen.

At times, embrace in each other's company, we'll enjoy the scenic view outside -- broccoli-like trees and ants-like human beings below our feet. Or we'll just stand at the living hall windows, breathing in the fresh air (giving our lungs rare chances to expand to its fullest) cleansed by the crystal-like droplets falling from above.

As the warm sun saunters towards west, the delicacy for the day -- fruits and vegetables, are graciously given to our rumbling stomachs. Not long which, the hunger is satisfied with silence given.

A day like this past, though with little laborious work (house cleaning, light exercises, etc), our mind and bodies have rejuvenated during simple and easy weekends after a week of toil at work.

Retreats used to be part of our lives in the past. Now, we realize that frequent short breaks for our minds and bodies are essential. Because therein arises, calmness and contentment. Most important, the awareness of dream-like moments arising and passing.

It is also during these moments that we may discuss life phenomenon and gain insights into the truth with sober minds. With such experiences, it is slowly integrated into everyday lives. With such recurring live patterns, mindfulness strengthen and higher tendencies where we become more aware of our body, mind and actions. Worries, troubles and pressure have been keeping a distance, drifting further and further away from our lives. This is truly a bliss.

Thanks to everything that happens in our lives that give us this opportunity to know and relish simple lives.
